10 Horror TV Shows That Deserved Another Season
3. Spooksville
One thing that the entertainment industry is starved for is horror content for children. While letting your kids watch scary things seems about as bright an idea as an unlit match in a dark cupboard, it's an excellent opportunity for youngsters to test themselves, see what scares them and have fun at the same time. That's especially true for this appropriately titled spookfest, as it was funny, quirky and creepy all in one neat package.
This show gave viewers an episodic, mystery of the week format, with a new kid discovering that he has a big part to play in the strange supernatural events of the town of Springville (nicknamed Spooksville, woo). Each episode saw him and two friends investigating strange occurrences, including ghosts, time-travel, humans turning into cats, homunculi and plenty more.
Overall, Spooksville was a blast and had all the hallmarks of a children's TV show classic in the making. Unfortunately, the series was never renewed after the final episode of season one (which ended on a massive cliffhanger).
After The Hub Network transitioned into Discovery Family, it aimed to promote educational shows, which unfortunately left Spooksville dangling in the dark. There's plenty of fan-protest for Netflix to renew the show (as it owns the rights), but by now, it's probably too little, too late.
