10 Incredible Stephen Colbert Moments That Prove He’s Perfect For The Late Show

9. Suq Madiq

Colbert was the master at staying in character, but there were a handful of occasions when he'd break and it would be kept in the broadcast. The absolute best instance of that from The Colbert Report's run came in this 2011 episode.

This was in the midst of the Colbert Super PAC saga, and in addition to forming a real PAC, Colbert asked viewers to send in actual donations. Then, he'd put the names of all these people who gave money on the screen, referring to them as "Heroe$." Naturally, some people decided to donate using prank names to get those on the air, and in this clip, Colbert embraced that by sincerely thanking his totally real viewer "Suq Madiq" before immediately cracking up.

He struggles to hold it in while the audience goes wild, but he hasn't even gotten to the joke yet. Colbert then speculates on Madiq's parents: Liqa Madiq and Munchma Quchi. After barely getting out the latter name, he just completely breaks down, and it's some of the most contagious laughter in the whole series. That's part of the magic of Colbert's personality: he's clearly so enthusiastic about doing the show, he finds it all to be hysterical, and he might be having the most fun out of any TV host. It's hard to deny that Colbert belongs on late night television.
