There's no way around it - Nathan is a really irritating human being. He's abrasive, confrontational, and has an innate ability to rub everyone the wrong way. But he's also way more endearing than he has any right to be. Part of Nathan's problem is that he genuinely doesn't seem to realise that his words hurt people, because he's the type of person who isn't bothered by anything anyone says to him. He says whatever pops into his little head, regardless of the affect it will have on the people around him. But at the same time, he cares very deeply for his friends and family, and once he's committed to someone, he goes all out for them. Remember Marnie, the pregnant girl that Nathan gave all the money he had in the world (even if that was only a couple quid)? Or the sheer number of times that he died to help save the gang? Sure, he always came back from the dead, but that's hardly the point. He walked a very fine line between being horribly annoying and absolutely hilarious with grace, so kudos to him.
