Bloodshed, brilliant story lines, interesting characters, oodles of nudity and witty lines are some of the things that make Game Of Thrones one of the most beloved shows gracing television screens at the moment. George R. R. Martin is one author who's not afraid to push the boundaries and often leaves fans shocked and wanting more.

The show (and book series, for that matter) is brilliantly written and researched, ripping off many historical events while still making viewers believe that dragons and giants once roamed the earth without feeling like they're watching some adult version of Tinkerbell And The Neverbeast.

Apart from its magical side, the series is also bursting with politics, religion and drama that make your strained family Christmas lunch look like a scene out of The Brady Bunch. And through it all: through dragons and political machinations and prostitutes and hierarchy, it is entirely relatable. How many fantasy shows and films can claim that?

The chief virtue of the show is that its rich, entertaining tapestry actually packs in engaging, universal life lessons and motifs. Regardless of which brother and sister are making the beast with two backs, or what magic someone is doing to someone else, there are relatable issues and inspiration points that all fans can use to grow.

Inevitably, there be spoilers within...

Sometimes the people you least expect can make a huge difference. Whether they're motivated by anger, love or circumstance.

Who?

Daenerys Targaryen went from being a forlorn damsel-in-distress little princess who was married off to a Dothraki savage to a full-blown conqueror with titles that take a few weeks to recite.

Daenerys Targaryen - Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and of the First Men, Queen of Meereen and Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, that would be quite a business card.

Samwell Tarly is another character who showed that given the right circumstances, anyone can be a hero when he killed a White Walker with a Dragonglass dagger.
