With the purchase of the vast majority of Fox's assets came licensing rights to a variety of characters, including the X-Men. The first member of Marvel's preeminent mutant team to get their own series should be Storm. Her importance as a leader of the X-Men cannot be understated, nor can the level of power she possesses. Her weather manipulation abilities put her on par with pretty much anyone. Plus, her backstory is incredibly engaging.

Ororo Munroe is the child of a Kenyan princess and an African-American photojournalist. She split her time as a child between Harlem and Cairo. When her parents were killed, she became a thief in Cairo and was worshiped as weather goddess in the Serengeti before being recruited by Professor X. That's a story worth playing out.

Plus, there's also a fan favorite arc that leads Storm to marry Black Panther. Though their marriage doesn't work out in the end, an on screen relationship between Ororo and T'Challa would be outstanding.
