4. It Was Almost Revealed That Phoebe & Joey Had Been Secretly Sleeping Together
There were countless subplots and storylines conceived during the show's tenure that sadly never made it to the screen - such as a planned three-parter where the friends would be stranded on an island after a plane crash.
But perhaps the one with the most dramatic and comedic meat was pitched by Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc themselves, that an episode would reveal Phoebe and Joey had been in a casual sexual relationship since the very beginning of the series.
The episode in question would hilariously revisit some of the show's most memorable moments and show an alternate perspective where Phoebe and Joey had been hooking up moments prior.
Though Crane and Kauffman ultimately rejected the idea for not fitting the tone of the show - whatever they meant by that - they have nevertheless expressed an enthusiasm for it as an off-screen fan theory.
It's a damn shame this never happened, because giving Friends the Rashomon treatment could've resulted in one of its funniest ever episodes.
