Season 2 Episode 01 Anthropology 101 This amazing pop culture reference appears in the first few seconds of the episode. The episode begins with a montage of the study group waking up for their first day back to Greendale. When the montage shows Troy waking up, he is wearing a Spider-Man T-shirt. The reference is very small but it was a great nod to fans of the show and bigger fans of Donald Glover. In May 2010, a Twitter campaign started for Glover to play Spider-Man in the then upcoming reboot. The campaign went under the name #donald4spiderman and gained a large following. Ultimate Spider-Man writer, Brian Michael Bendis, even acknowledged that the small shot of Troy sporting the web slingers classic look inspired his African American version of Spider-Man.
