10. Anakin Bonds With Tarkin

One of the most intriguing relationships in the franchise's original trilogy was between Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin, the military leader of the Empire who was surprisingly seen to have a powerful hold over the dangerous Dark Lord.

Tarkin was shown to be a ruthless, cold tactician with zero morality, and as popular a character as he remains in the fandom, few were expecting to see him turn up in The Clone Wars TV show.

Appearing in the third season's Citadel Rescue arc, Tarkin is seen captured alongside Jedi Master Even Piell by the Separatists, and saved in a daring operation led by Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

As the rescue team and the prisoners made their way to freedom, Anakin was seen bonding with Tarkin, sharing similar thoughts about the Jedi's role in the war and mentioning their friendship with the Chancellor.

Knowing what the pair would become in only a few short years, watching this development was deliciously chilling, and as terrifying as it was a welcome dose of character development.
