A death of a character is always a sad time, but the death of the actor who played them is another story. For Only Fools and Horses, this was one and the same.

After the death of the iconic Lennard Pearce mid-way through filming season 4 of the show they decided to have a funeral for the character Grandad. It was naturally a sad day for the cast and the Trotter family and the emotion of the episode really cuts through.

But with a nice little hat joke, we are brought back to the normal Del and Rodney, after the moment of respect for a funny classic character.
