10 MORE Actors You Didn’t Know Were In Star Trek
10. Tom Bergeron
Tom Bergeron is best known to American audiences as TV host of everything from Good Morning America to Hollywood Squares, America's Funniest Home Videos, and Dancing with the Stars. Starting with, quite appropriately, 'TV News Reporter,' in Gremlins, Bergeron also has a few acting credits to his name. That includes two appearances in Star Trek: Enterprise.
For his first, Bergeron got the role thanks to friend, and colleague in a central place, Whoopi Goldberg! During filming of Star Trek: Nemesis, Goldberg invited Bergeron — a Star Trek fan — onto the Nemesis set and then that of Enterprise. Bumping into Rick Berman during the tour, Bergeron apparently impressed so much with his knowledge of the Suliban and the NX-01 warp core that the executive producer offered him a part there and then.
Thinking he was just going to be 'random background Klingon,' Bergeron actually got the much meatier role of alien trader — and Cardassian homophone — D'Marr in the teaser to Oasis. You might have missed him amidst all the make-up and ghost stories in the Captain's Mess!
Even with the updated universal translators, Bergeron was unrecognisable under yet heavier prosthetic make-up (and possible ceremonial mask) for his second guest role. In Demons, he was the Coridanite ambassador to the United Earth 'Coalition of Planets' conference.
