10. The Klingons Did Not Invent Warp Travel

We know that Klingon culture doesn't exactly hold scientists in high regard. Warp specialists like Kurak from the Next Generation episode Suspicions were social outcasts, shamed and ridiculed by the warriors of their society. One has to wonder how a species so adversarial to technology could ever invent faster-than-light travel.

Well, we know from the Deep Space Nine episode Little Green Men that the Ferengi were able to buy warp drive technology from an alien species rather than inventing it themselves. Perhaps the Klingons also got their tech from a more advanced empire.

Little Green Men also confirmed that the Klingons got warp capabilities sometime after 1947 (though Quark may have been off with his estimate, as it’s known that the Klingons had interstellar colonies far before the 20th century), but the very next episode, The Sword Of Kahless, revealed that their homeworld was invaded by the Hur'q much earlier, in the 14th century. Many fans theorise that Klingon warp technology was actually reverse-engineered from tech left over from the Hur'q invasion, or some other alien encounter.
