10 More TV Shows In Need Of Revivals

8. The Critic

While networks are generally looking to revive shows that were hits, there is plenty of room for second chances. The Critic was, arguably, a show ahead of its time. With Jon Lovitz taking the lead as film critic Jay Sherman, it would have been a safer bet today, when everyone is a movie critic, and a good half of each week's water cooler talk is about the newest releases. Film geeks are en vogue, and The Critic would fit right in. Unfortunately, the show came out in the mid-90s, and never really got off the ground. Despite a memorable catch phrase (It stinks!) for Jay and a cross-over with The Simpsons (Al Jean had a hand in both), The Critic failed to catch on with viewers. Switching networks mid-run didn't help, and there were no DVD box sets back then to save it from cancellation. While there was a revival in the form of some web shorts in the early 2000s, a full-blown Critic revival would be a welcome addition to any streaming service. We're looking at you, Amazon! You could even make Jay Sherman your spokesperson.
