2. Making A Murderer Part 2

Making A Murderer isn't so much a TV series as it is a cultural phenomenon. Arriving late in 2015, the first season was seemingly all anyone could talk about for at least a month. It helped kick-start a wave of true crime series, inspired outrage and counter-outrage, and everyone had an opinion on the case. And more than that, it was the kind of show that demanded being binge-watched, lest you be spoilt elsewhere or miss out on the conversation.

Part 2, then, obviously wasn't any different given its high position on Netflix's 2018 list. The first season was a word-of-mouth sensation, but this time around there was built-in hype, expectation, and a much heavier marketing presence, ensuring all eyes would once again be glued to the case of Steven Avery.

You can argue that it didn't need to exist; that there wasn't enough new material, that the case was so public we'd have known of any major developments, and that, ultimately, it was a disappointment. Netflix, however, will simply tell you that the audience demanded more, and responded by devouring it as quickly as possible.
