Mad Men's final season was damn-near perfect, much like the rest of the show (and Roger Sterling's 'tache game, though that definitely is perfect). The season and series finale was beautifully put together, giving us a truly fitting send-off for Don, Peggy, and the rest. While it might have ended on a happy note, there was some real poignancy to be found in the last conversation between Don and his ex-wife, Betty. Betty heartbreakingly reveals that she has lung cancer, and the pair have to say their goodbyes over the phone. All the complications of their relationship over the past seven seasons - the history, the hurt, the heart - is played out and encapsulated in one devastating phone call. "Birdie." "I know."
