From Supernatural to The Walking Dead - horror tv shows that made you stop to take another look.

How many times have you watched a TV show and, by the time you realise what you thought you saw, the moment has passed? Luckily, due to home video and streaming services, we have the gift of being able to pause and revisit those moments that we would have previously missed.

TV production companies are are fully aware of this, so fill their programmes full of hidden messages, Easter eggs, or scenes that are just too shocking or funny not to see again. Similarly, they may often leave in production errors just to get viewers talking about the show when they see the mistake!

Horror shows are particularly apt for pause-worthy moments, as they often have obsessive groups of fans who will go mad for the little details that reward them for paying attention to previous episodes.

The following list shows ten of the best examples of moments that made horror fans rewind and pause, or indeed, moments that they read or heard about after watching the episode obliviously and just had to go back and take a second look (warning - spoilers).

10. Supernatural - Days Of Our Lives (S6 Ep15 The French Mistake)

Supernatural has always been full of Easter Eggs and inside jokes, with the actors never afraid to poke fun at themselves. This was especially evident in the episode The French Mistake, where Balthazar sent Sam and Dean to an alternative universe to protect them from Balthazar's hitman.

The meta episode sees the brothers as stars of a TV show called Supernatural, and they appear as actors named Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. Castiel is a Twitter-obsessed Micha Collins, and as in real life, Sam is married to Ruby (Genevieve Cortese). The story is incredibly entertaining to watch as we see Jared and Jensen act as Sam and Dean pretending to be Jared and Jensen acting as Sam and Dean (did you follow that?)

One of the most amusing moments in the episode, and worth pausing to appreciate fully, is when Dean finds out that Jensen appeared in the cheesy soap opera Days of our Lives (as he did in real life), and Sam pulls up an embarrassing shot from the show, when Jensen was looking decidedly less like the handsome capable hunter we know so well.
