5. "I'm Quite The Screamer... Now There's A Spoiler For You"
Innuendo and adult humour are not unique to 21st century Doctor Who. Older fans will remember Tom Baker having fun with the phallic creature from the pit, Patrick Troughton's fluff "sexual air supply," or Ian's penchant for wearing Barbara's clothes in The Chase. But it's fair to say the jokes have come thick and fast in recent years. From sonic screwdriver gags to the cliché driven Captain Jack Harkness, Elton Pope's paving slab to Madam Vastra's tongue, the new series has upset the more prudish fans with its bawdry humour. None more so than the flirtatious River Song. On this occasion in The Impossible Astronaut she confirms what we ought to have always known - the Doctor has a sex life... shock, horror.
