The much-anticipated Gotham has a concept that sounds fantastic, but we'll have to see how they execute it. Essentially, Gotham takes place in the Batman universe, when Bruce Wayne is just a little guy, and will revolve around the exploits of the beloved Jim Gordon. On the surface, the show has a lot in common with Smallville, which detailed the life of Clark Kent as a teenager. And that ran for ten seasons, so there's reason for some level of optimism regarding Gotham. Inspired casting choices have elevated this show from a curiosity to something that actually has potential, with Ben McKenzie playing Gordon and Sean Pertwee (son of Doctor Who star Jon Pertwee) will be taking over the reigns as sage butler Alfred Pennyworth. As for Bruce Wayne himself, he'll be played by David Mazouz, who previously starred in Touch, a show that really only received positive feedback for the young actor's leading performance. He's a remarkably talented child actor who will certainly be able to bring nuanced emotions to the grief-stricken boy who would eventually become Batman.
