Does anyone remember that show from about ten years ago, New Amsterdam? It starred a then mostly unknown Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (aka Jaime from Game of Thrones) as an immortal man who had been living in New York City since the 1600s, and despite being really interesting was cancelled after less than a season? This is kind of like that. But hey, the concept was good then and it's still good now. Forever stars Ioan Gruffudd as a 200-year-old medical examiner, who spends his free time studying the corpses of New York City in an attempt to unlock the secret to immortality. The whole vampire thing is kind of played out at this point, but the idea of using the universally well-liked concept of the Immortal Man without all the trappings of faux vampire mythology shoehorned in is certainly appealing. And Gruffudd is a Welsh treasure who really should be getting more attention than he does, so hopefully this show will be the making of him.
