Network: Netflix Premiere Date: April 2016 When Marvel announced that they would be creating a series of one-off programs on Netflix for some of their lesser known superheroes, fans were excited, but were careful not to get their hopes up. No one expected what a massive success Daredevil and, more recently, Jessica Jones would become. What was originally something of an experiment has now turned into a viable medium for Marvel properties, and Luke Cage is their newest venture. It's the story of an ex-con with super-strength and unbreakable skin who fights crime in New York City, just like his fellow Marvel Defenders, Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Cage (played by Mike Colter) has had the benefit of appearing on several episodes of Jessica Jones, so audiences have the opportunity to become familiar with the character before his show even begins.
