SATC may not be the most extravagantly clothed show, but out of the top ten, it has been the most influential to pop culture, and almost every woman (and man) I know. There is a lot to love in SATC, the clothes are probably a tiny part of it, which is a real testament to the quality of the show on most levels. But for this list, let's stick to the wardrobe. Like the show, much has been said of its heart and soul - Patricia, who has styled movies, TV shows and music videos throughout her career. She manages to do something that as an actress I can very much appreciate - make our lives easier. Even if SJP was having an "off" day, i'm sure that the moment she put on those skinny high- waisted cropped jeans, sheer top and black bra, and Jimmy Choos - most of her job was done. For me, the two signatures of PF are color and accessories. Trends may come and go, and they did in the show as well, highlighting the 90's fashion by bringing out it's best and worst. But the vibrant colors that popped of the screen and the big, unusual accessories didn't seem to change at all, only conform to each individual outfit. The most iconic one was the Carrie necklace of course. When she loses it, a part of her is lost. Patrovsky tries to replace it with an expensive diamond necklace, but Carrie knows where her heart is. In that old, cheap, beautiful classic necklace. Another accessory that still resonates is the giant flower pin, usually worn on the shoulder of one of her many tank tops. I have one myself, and even a small one to wear in my hair sometimes... And finally, those famous Louboutins, the pink ones that she bought to bid farewell to Big when he left NY. They were ruined when Miranda went into labor, but Carrie was a champ, and shrugged it off. And a special shout out to her MANY bandannas, hats, and that oh-so-sexy "naked dress" that she wore on her first date with Big. Pat's favorites include the opening credit's tutu, which as it turns out, was at first nixed by the producers. But after the first screening of the pilot, it was unanimous - the tutu prevailed! Her second favorite look was the finale dress Carrie wore in the hotel, waiting for her Russian Lover. It was a delicious cascade of tulle and chiffon, in a darkly romantic color. Perfect for such a dramatic and life changing moment for our heroine. So that's what I think. What do you think? Feel free to comment!
