Let's start with the Daredevil series and what else is known. From interviews, fans know the red suit is coming, but it'll take a while. For at least the first few episodes of Daredevil, Matt Murdock will wear a more realistic black outfit made up out of regular clothes: in publicity photos, the outfit actually looks good. With the programme's brief of being gritty, it seems episodes will be a mixture of investigating crimes, with new, sympathetic supporting characters in each episode. This formula folllows a path well trod in the 1980s Edward Woodward TV programme, The Equalizer. It's easy to imagine Murdock being a McCall-like figure, dishing out retribution by night. Since this is Daredevil, the daytime scenes will be split between Murdock's law office and the courtroom, with a smattering of Karen Page spiralling into a mess of her own making. Fans can look forward to light relief from Foggy Nelson and scenes with Wilson Fisk meeting and falling in love with Vanessa. With the Kingpin taking up so much screen time, other supervillains well known to viewers, such as Bullseye and Typhoid Mary, might have to wait for next year or even star in the other series, such as Luke Cage. But one thing is certain, Daredevil will have to face off against at least one supervillain; his beating up on regular folk every episode is bound to get repetitive after a few episodes, and the audience expects superpowers in a superhero series. Eventually, pressure for a superhero versus supervillain smack down will become irresistible. Also, it will look fairer if DD picks on people his own size. But how will the Daredevil series tie into the other offerings? Most likely, Jessica Jones will be hired as Matt Murdock's bodyguard in Daredevil, allowing the ideas from "Alias" to be introduced to TV viewers, efficiently paving the way for the A.K.A. Jessica Jones series.
