Doing a much better job of portraying Chas than Shia LaBeouf ever did in the movie version, 6 foot 4 actor Charles Halford is perfect as the muscle to John Constantines magic. While admittedly having a fair few differences from Hellbalzers Chas, Halford still manages to be convincing as Johns longest and most loyal friend. What people want to know is: whats his back story in this version of Constantine? Why is he seemingly invincible? Is he already dead? Chas seems to understand John - and the personal demons he carries around with him - better than anyone, so is friendship the only reason he helps him out all the time, or does Chas owe him something? These are all questions viewers want answering. Extending the series could lead to more episodes focusing on Chas, with the possibility of some storylines featuring him and his past relationship with John.
