4. 3D Was A Breach Of Trust

3D either induces headaches, doesn€™t impress or is used sporadically. Those are not good use-cases for a technology purchase. There was even a time when a visit to a certain food-related technology chain looking for a new TV would inevitably end up in a 3D upgrade, because there were no standard sets on sale. Even this loss-leading tactic with the subsequent crashing of 3D prices has not been enough to push sales up. Those that do opt for the 3D screens find themselves not bothering to use them except the odd 3D BluRay, assuming they bought the requisite 3D BluRay player of course. The film companies conned the public with poor post-production conversions, so other than Avatar, animated movies and a few rare gems it€™s not even worth bothering with 3D. It can be excellent for sports, anyone who has watched football, tennis or boxing in 3D will testify to the added immersion, but the frequency of these events is not enough to justify the technology. This, together with 10, 9 and 7 makes the buying public wary of the next big thing being a technological cul-de-sac and opt for the safe bet.
