10 Reasons To Greenlight Star Trek: Janeway NOW

9. Prodigy Proved Janeway Can Still Carry A Series

One of the highlights of Star Trek: Prodigy was seeing Janeway back in action. Whether it was in the guise of a holo-mentor or the Admiral herself, it felt right seeing her on the bridge of a starship again. But most importantly, Janeway's Prodigy appearance proved that both the actor and character are more than capable of taking centre stage in another show.

From the moment Kate Mulgrew appeared in Star Trek: Voyager (hands on hips and sporting that now iconic hair), it was clear that they'd found the right actor for the job. Mulgrew's gravitas, depth and charisma brought Janeway to life in a way that has stayed with many of us for decades. It was never a question of whether she had the acting chops to dive into another Star Trek story; she absolutely does. But what Prodigy has proven is just how easily Mulgrew can step back into Janeway's boots. It's like she was never gone.

And as for the character of Janeway, she became as integral to Prodigy as the rest of the rag-tag crew we grew to love. Both the holographic and flesh-and-blood versions reminded us of what we'd been missing and showcased what Janeway could bring to a new show. Her unique brand of curiosity, spirit and mettle shone through, proving that Janeway can hold her ground with a new story and a new crew.

Although, we wouldn't be averse to some familiar faces joining any new ones...but we'll come back to that.
