When Catherine Tate appeared in the Season 7 finale, "Search Committee", she was moderately funny. However, when returning for Season 8, her rather obvious style of comedy did not mix well with the show's tone. She was frequently too in your face, often over-the-top and commonly unfunny. Many fans and critics alike were quick to criticise the character, yet The Office have decided to keep her on for the next season, however what her job role will be is yet to be revealed. This represents a real misjudgement from the show's producers, who have clearly decided to ignore the criticism of Tate's character, Nellie Bertram.
