10 Revived TV Shows That Should Have Stayed Dead
Sometimes dead is better.
We all have a few TV shows that we loved, and wind up missing when they end. Some of them were cancelled too soon and some of them stretched on way too long, but regardless we form an emotional attachment to the characters and the world. Sometimes the TV gods hear our prayers and grant us a revival years later, but this can lead to an extreme case of Careful what you wish for.
The last few years have seen a boatload of old shows being rebooted, with everything from Twin Peaks to Full House being hosed down for a new generation; even ReBoot is getting a reboot. Earlier this year The X-Files returned after a long hiatus and, while there were criticisms, plenty of fans seemed to be pleased with the results. That not always the case, though, because there have been numerous examples of dead shows that really should have stayed down.
Goodwill and nostalgia will only take them so far, and if the revived series doesn't carry its weight it could end up tarnishing the memory of the show. Collected here are some shows that slapped on a new coat of paint, only for it to quickly peel away and expose the rustiness beneath.
