10 Sci-Fi TV Show Moments That Pissed Off Fans

10. Lexa's Death - The 100

The 100 was an incredible hit with fans in its release in 2014, adapted from the novel of the same name by Kass Morgan. Set in a post apocalyptic future aboard a space station, 100 teenagers are sent to an irradiated Earth to see if it is now survivable. Fans quickly became invested in the ensemble cast as the show plunged into the difficult decisions it takes to survive and how each character copes with their own flaws.

In Season 2, we got to experience the ‘Grounder’ side of the story – the people who had survived the apocalypse and had formed primitive clans. One of those characters was Lexa, the Commander of the Grounders, a strong character, both in politics and with a sword. Soon, she began both a political and romantic relationship with Clarke, the female lead. It was the first LGBTQ+ depiction in the series and fans were hoping to see more of the power couple.

However, a stray bullet was the thing to end the great leader’s life. The death was so thrown together and sudden, it shocked and angered fans to see a character die so lamely. Many fans hated the way that the show wasted Lexa and reduced her to just being a emotional device. The LGBTQ+ community was also outraged, claiming the writers purposefully killed off the only lesbian character on the show. This could have led to Season 4’s downfall in ratings and the subsequent struggle to win back fans.
