School know-it-all, frequent target of bullies like Nelson Muntz and Jimbo Jones, and that one summer, the cool kid with the pool who outdid even Lisa. Martin may seem like a one-note character - the nerd - but he has shone through at times, in episodes like "Bart on the Road" where he, along with Bart, Milhouse, and Nelson, go for a joyride across state lines. There's a lot more that could be done with him, and if there were ever a character that screamed "parental issues" it's Martin. There's no way that kid has a normal home life.
