10 Star Trek Characters That Gained SUPERPOWERS
3. Wesley Crusher The Space Wizard
When The Traveller said that Wesley Crusher was special, we thought he meant it in a cute, precocious way, with an intelligence that's matched only by his growing pains. Not that he'd turn into some kind of cosmic guardian of time and space.
In fairness, Journey's End was a little blurry on what exactly Wesley was ascending into. He starts the episode sullen and disheartened, and what follows is an unexpectedly touching story about a student who realises they're on the wrong path.
When violence breaks out on a colony, Wesley suddenly stops time without understanding how. The Traveller appears, explaining that Wesley has evolved and is ready to move on to another plane of existence. Or something. It's very vague, but it involves a journey, time and letting people sort their own problems out.
It wasn't until Star Trek: Prodigy that we got a much clearer idea of Wesley's powers and new life. And honestly...it was pretty cool. Wesley was portrayed as a guardian who protected (and occasionally even saved) the universe one reality at a time. And he did it all with the power of his mind...and a few gadgets. Seeing him wrangle with time and reality while fending off the terrifying Loom gave a lot of fans a whole new appreciation for Wesley.
Still, the best part of the entire journey was seeing Admiral Janeway tell a space wizard to call his mom more often. Classic Janeway.
