10 Stunning Moments From Breaking Bad

By Stephen Reynolds /

9. Jesse Shoots Gale €“ Season 3, Episode 13 €œFull Measure€

If Breaking Bad had a yearbook, Jesse Pinkman would win €œMost Likely To Need a Hug€. For a character who commits deplorable acts, Jesse somehow still comes across as a bullied child wearing the full weight of his crimes behind piercing blue eyes. As Walt would argue it, killing Gale was a necessary evil to keep them both alive. Ultimately, though, that doesn€™t help Jesse sleep at night. He will forever be pushed into evil by White, who he eventually comes to see as €œthe Devil€. Walt€™s gift of manipulation serves viewers well in the final minutes of €œFull Measure€. Aware of the trap set by Gus as he enters the super lab (under the guise of a conveniently timed €œchemical leak€), Walt begs for his life and even offers up Jesse to appease Mike. Walt tells Mike he needs to call Jesse to set up the meeting, and phones his partner. To Mike€™s surprise, Walt instead tells Jesse he has a twenty minute head start, and to €œdo it now€, leading to the season€™s spine-chilling last shot. Jesse tears up as the gun wobbles slightly in his hand, Gale begs for his life, the gun fires as the screen cuts to black€ and viewers are left waiting for an entire year for the crushing fallout.
