10 Terrible Glee Musical Numbers

By Daniel Bowen /

7. Physical: Olivia Newton John

Another example of Glee reenacting a musical number for no real reason what so ever. This performance however, and this episodes entire storyline is unforgivably embarrassing. Olivia Newton John sees Sue Sylvester dancing to Physical on YouTube so invites her to redo the music video with her and release the song together. I know a lot of Glee is ridiculous and obviously removed from reality but this is really pushing it too far, and the only reason for this storyline was so Glee could involve Olivia Newton John as a ratings boost. Also, though this isn't a criticism of this performance, but when Sue and Olivia Newton John meet up at the end of season 1 for a second time to judge Regionals they act as if they never new each other and they hate each other although Sue apparently was a big fan and Olivia liked her enough to want to release a single with her. The only reason this performance isn't higher up on this list is because as a cover of an older song it is hardly that much worse than the original, simply because it is basically exactly the same as the original- Olivia Newton John is the lead singer in both. Also, this is clearly supposed to be a joke- and although I didn't find it at all funny, at least Glee weren't trying to make something good here (at least I hope).
