6. The Mysteron Rings Were Inspired By Oxo

The Mysterons communicate by hovering rings of light on people. When the rings are sliding across people, the Mysterons' voice can be heard. But what was the inspiration for this visually interesting means of communicating? According to urban legend, the Mysteron rings were inspired by an OXO advert which had the logo slide over a frying pan and the outline of a female figure - and this image became the rings sliding onto people. incidentally, much of the fan art made of the Mysteron rings is wrong - the rings, as shown in the opening credits of Captain Scarlet from episode two onwards, are blue rather than green.
