10 Things That Happen When You Date A Doctor Who Fan

It was Shakespeare that said "The course of true love never did run smooth" and that can be especially true for Doctor Who fans. And Shakespeare should know, because when he met the Tenth Doctor and Martha in Series 3... Well, you all know what happened next, don't you? Still, in many ways Doctor Who is a celebration of the power of art, literacy and non-conformity over the forces of hate. Its characters strive to find imaginative solutions, embrace lateral thinking and appreciate the absurd. People who love the programme tend to share many of these ideals and qualities, marking them out as exactly the sort of person that would make a good life partner. But try explaining that to some people! Incredibly, Who fans get labelled as "nerds" or even "anoraks". Not that Whovians are entirely perfect in every regard. Their deep-rooted affection for the show can, occasionally, result in some minor, harmless forms of obsession that are in no way important and shouldn't become barriers to the course of true love. Here are 10 of these entirely reasonable things that are guaranteed to happen when a member of the "not-we" (a non-fan) decides to date a Whovian. Non-fans shouldn't be put off by any of the affectionate ribbing that follows. Just like the programme's lead character, Whovians have twice the heart of anyone else and don't take themselves too seriously.
