10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Making Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer
10. Xander And Anya’s Song Was The Most Fun To Film In ‘Once More, With Feeling'
‘Once More, With Feeling’ is a classic. Even those who aren’t keen on Season 6 can’t deny how good this episode is. When a musical demon known as Sweet arrives in Sunnydale, all of our favourite characters are forced to express their inner thoughts in the form of musical numbers.
The songs from Tara and Giles are probably the best when it comes to vocal performances, but according to writer-director Joss Whedon, Xander and Anya’s tune was the most enjoyable to create. Unlike most of the songs in this episode, ‘I’ll Never Tell’ was storyboarded beforehand, making the shoot more straightforward. And given the song is a duet with plenty of dancing, the cast and crew had plenty of fun on set:
“I love the lighting here. I love the set. I love their outfits. I love the two of them…the opportunity to do that was a lot of fun. To be really silly and yet hit on something that is very true about relationships.”
Creating a show like Buffy the Vampire Slayer can be a stressful experience, so it’s nice to know the cast and crew had such a blast with this tune.
