Parks and Rec has one of the best sitcom casts of all time, boasting an array of great actors all playing lovable, distinct characters.

Well, with the exception of Mark Brendana-quits anyway.

Initially introduced as a too-cool-for-school, will-they-won't-they love interest for Leslie, Mark was set up as the core straight man: handsome, suave, and totally above all the silly shenanigans of working in government.

However, that also made him boring.

In contrast to the rest of the cast - even background characters like Jerry - Mark didn't have much to offer, and Season 2 saw him pushed to the back of storylines.

That season eventually culminated in him leaving the department for another job, which isn't too weird, but what is is that Mark might as well have never existed afterwards. Over the years, Parks and Rec constantly brought back even bit-part characters, referenced them, and made sure they remained a part of the show's heritage right up until the final episode.

Except Mark, who was so boring he vanished into the ether the moment his final episode aired.
