It's a testament to the quality of the show that we saw Alisha's imminent demise coming literally a season before it happened, and we were still shocked by it. Future Simon travels back in time to save Alisha from the mad video game killer, and ends up taking a bullet in the process. The shady way he refuses to answer Alisha's question about something happening to her in the future makes it pretty obvious that by the time he takes the trip back in time, she's already dead. The only thing we didn't know was when and how it was going to happen. I was really hoping that her death might be years down the line. Future Simon could have passed for 5 or 7 years older, and if that was the case I wouldn't have had to see the wonderful Alisha die. That would have been only fair, right? But I forgot one crucial lesson that I learned early in life from Joss Whedon: television is never fair. So poor Alisha got her throat slashed by the vengeful ghost of Rachel, and a grief-stricken Simon time-travelled to his death. It's what we in the business call a double whammy, and I think the guys over at Doctor Who call it a Tuesday afternoon.
