The plot twist is one of the most beloved and reliable TV tropes.

Feel like a show is getting stale? Just chuck in a random turn of events to shake things up! Works every time... until it doesn't

Of course, not all plot twists are good (looking at you How I Met Your Mother) but the quality of the twist isn't what we're concerned with today. Instead, we're examining the TV "surprises" that weren't actually surprising in the slightest.

An obvious swerve isn't always a bad thing, though. Predictability is often the sign of good storytelling and many a show has fallen foul of the "shock for the sake of a shock". Again, How I Met Your Mother, please stand up.

That being said, sometimes a revelation is so apparent that viewers are left begging for characters in the show to work it out because they're so fed up with watching them miss the obvious.

Whether they were hinted at way too heavily, made no sense plotwise, or were just plain for all to see, these ten twists were all figured out by fans well before they were actually confirmed on screen.

10. It's All Agnes' Fault - WandaVision

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's first foray into television came with the release of WandaVision on Disney+ in 2021.

The opening episode of the series depicted Wanda Maximoff living an ideal life alongside her husband, Vision. The events were presented in the style of a classic sitcom complete with black and white images and a corny laugh track.

However, as the events of the show unfolded, it was clear that all was not as it seemed.

The show's eventual antagonist is revealed to be Agatha Harkness, a witch who is jealous of Wanda's powers. She hides in the fictional sitcom as Agnes, Wanda and Vision's nosy neighbour. Well, "hides" is a strong word.

From the moment she first appeared on screen fans knew something was up. The character was winking to the audience throughout her time on the show - sometimes literally - and, when it was revealed that she was the one pulling the strings, nobody was surprised.

Still, that doesn't mean she wasn't a fun villain. Kathryn Hahn played the role to perfection and was rewarded with an Emmy nomination for her efforts. No awards were handed out for subtlety, though.
