Much like their big-screen counterparts, a great many of the larger than life small-screen tales to have been let loose on a modern audience have incorporated some truly inventive ways to help suspend fans of many a series' disbelief. And these televised offerings have also boasted their fair share of unforeseen developments that you had no idea completely altered and changed a TV beat for the better under your very nose.

10. Cole Sprouse Being Cold Led To THAT Cliffhanger - Riverdale

Fans of supernatural horror drama Riverdale were no doubt left chewing away at what remained of their fingernails as Season 3 came to its chilling conclusion, with Archie, Betty, and Veronica all standing around a fire in their underwear as they threw Jughead Jones' beanie onto the flames.

It may come as a surprise to hear that this hint at Jughead being very much dead and gone wasn't actually a part of the plan from the get-go, though.

In fact, whilst talking to TV Line (via TeenVogue) back in 2019, KJ Apa would note that this entire shocking tease of a grisly fate for Cole Sprouse's character came about due to the latter actor actually being a touch too cold to film the sequence in question!

As co-star Lili Reinhart would also add, "It was scripted all four of us and he was like, 'I don't wanna do it,' so he didn't."

That being said, it is worth noting that the show's writers were weighing up the possibility of Jughead potentially being absent in this fateful scene heading into the shooting of the scripted moment. But poor ol' Cole being too cold "was just like the final straw", as Camilla Mendes put it.
