10 TV Shows That Would Have Been Better Off As Anthologies

4. Glee

Here again is a show where the creative premise could have outlasted the initial cast. What began as a show about a high school glee club has (not always successfully) morphed into a completely different show, following characters to New York and beyond. I'm by no means an avid watcher of the show, but I don't begrudge the folks that are. When I did tune in, it was always for the music. That's why the series would work as an anthology - because the heart of the premise is the musical side of things. A musical show with a rotating cast of actors and voices could accomplish numerous things: not only would it keep the premise fresh, it would also provide avenues for theater actors and actresses to be exposed to a new audience (as Lea Michelle was when the show originally launched).
