These shows are FINALLY going off the air.

The business of bringing a hit TV show to a close is a complicated one - end it too early and you're leaving money on the table, but keep the party going too long and it'll feel like a mere shadow of its former self.

As such it's always refreshing when major series bow out at just the right time - in recent times Barry and Succession both ducked out after four brilliant seasons a-piece.

However, most shows aren't quite so eager to shuffle off when the time is right, but in the case of these 10 TV series, each is now finally prepping to close up shop.

And boy, it's certainly time.

These shows are either already long in the tooth and desperately needed to be given the chop, or risked being run into the ground if they kept going any longer.

Each has now finally been given their kill order - whether a planned ending or more contentious cancellation - ensuring they'll go off the air for good with their next batch of episodes.

In some cases that won't stop the network milking the franchise for every spin-off imaginable, though...

10. Fear The Walking Dead

There are three certainties in life - death, taxes, and AMC milking The Walking Dead for every last drop.

That the spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead made it to a currently-airing eighth season before receiving the chop is impressive, being just three seasons shy of the mainline show itself.

Given that the show's quality has been all over the map throughout its run and its linear TV ratings have steadily declined over the last few seasons, few but the most die-hard Walking Dead fans will be upset or surprised by AMC's decision.

Fear the Walking Dead has certainly had a good innings given that it hasn't exceeded 2 million linear viewers per episode since season five way back in 2018, and during the first half of season eight, figures dropped to a brutal 460,000. Yikes.

For a series that basically rebooted its cast and crew in season four to hold on this long despite barely registering a pulse outside of its hardcore fanbase is a testament to how much rope AMC is willing to give the franchise.

Though numerous other spin-off shows are in various stages of production at the moment, it's time for Fear the Walking Dead to have its overdue dirt nap.
