10 TV Shows You Didn't Know Had Weird Connections

9. Parks and Rec & The Book of Boba Fett

On the face of it, there isn't too much connecting Parks and Rec, one of the most underrated and joyous American sitcoms, and Star Wars, outside of Adam Scott's Ben Wyatt being a giant nerd. Then, Patton Oswalt made an appearance on the show.

Well known as a huge Star Wars fan, the same could be said about his character. In an attempt to stop certain Pawnee laws from being changed, he entered into a citizen filibuster, where essentially the council was powerless to do anything if he refused to stop talking. He spent his entire time explaining down to the smallest detail exactly how Boba Fett could have survived the events of Return of the Jedi. The idea was that the camera would pan down from the twin suns of Tatooine to a close-up of the sarlacc pit, where, after a beat, the gloved Mandalorian armour of Boba Fett would reach out, grab the sand, and pull himself to freedom.

That was in 2013. Fast forward eight years to the first episode of The Book of Boba Fett, where the shot panned down from the Tatooine suns to see Fett (Temuera Morrison) haul himself out of the sarlacc pit.

Oswalt has since confirmed to Jimmy Kimmel that he himself confirmed with Jon Favreau that Fett's emergence from the sarlacc pit was actively timed to perfectly suit the now-famous Parks and Rec rant. That's a lot of effort put in for a unique easter egg that not many would have caught.
