10 TV Shows You Didn't Know Had Weird Connections

5. Riverdale & Black Mirror

Easter eggs connecting the likes of Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, two shows that shared the same network, can be expected to some degree. However, there are others that couldn't be further from what you might expect.

Black Mirror has become something of an icon in terms of dystopian storytelling, with each episode focusing on a (mostly) self-contained story propelled by some misused or blatantly evil tech that rarely ever ends well. Riverdale, on the other hand, is a relatively cheesy outing where the actors playing the teenagers do not look or act like teenagers.

A connection between Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina wasn't too shocking, but with Black Mirror, it was a little more out of the blue. It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but in season one, Joaquin DeSantos (Rob Raco) heads out of town on a bus heading to San Junipero.

This is a clear nod to one of Black Mirror's strongest ever episodes, based around a simulated reality for the elderly, dead, and dying. Though it's highly unlikely Joaquin was headed to the same virtual town as Kelly and Yorkie (Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis), with literal witches known to share the same universe as the characters of Riverdale, stranger things have indeed happened.
