Chuck is sort of a unique show, because on any other program, the character of Chuck would probably be the intelligent, wise-cracking sidekick of someone like Captain Awesome. But if a gigantic nerd like Chuck is the hero, what type of person can you put in the sidekick role? Answer: Morgan Grimes. He's designed to be a tiny, even nerdier version of Chuck who has a tendency to be extremely excitable in a way that reminds you of a small dog. At first glance, you might think that he's just weighing Chuck down rather than helping him out. But Morgan is capable of surprising people. He has these moments during the show when he's much more brave and capable than anyone would think possible. For example, throughout the series, both Morgan and Chuck were put in the situation where they were told by Casey to break their thumbs to get out of a pair of handcuffs. Chuck couldn't do it, but Morgan did it with only a momentary hesitation. And when Chuck finally gets around to telling Morgan about his big dark secret, Morgan handles it amazingly well. He's more than meets the eye, and definitely should not be underestimated.
