10 Underrated Sci-Fi TV Shows You Need To Watch

In this modern age of television, there are a lot of options for what you can watch as multiple streaming services resurrect the classics while giving watchers brand new options. Some might complain about the need to spend so much money on platforms, but let's be honest, if it wasn't for Disney+, The Mandalorian probably wouldn't exist and the world just wouldn't be as wonderful a place.

And more generally speaking, the new era of TV has been especially good to science fiction.

Star Wars is obviously doing well in the modern world of streaming but on top of that, Star Trek has found new life, as well, first through Discovery and soon with Picard. But there is more sci-fi TV out there to watch than the big names that make headlines in your Facebook newsfeed. Science fiction is a massive genre with options to suit almost any taste, especially lesser known titles and there are some that deserve way more attention...

10. The Expanse

Hundreds of years in the future, the entire Solar System has been colonized and an uneasy peace exists between Earth and Mars. This Cold War-like state is disrupted by what seems like a tragic accident at first. Further investigation by those trying to preserve that peace starts to unravel a conspiracy that threatens to destroy everything.

Based on the books of the same name, The Expanse was originally developed for SyFy. After three seasons and multiple awards, it was cancelled by SyFy but the good news is that it has been picked up for two more seasons by Amazon Prime. It will be interesting to see how being part of a streaming service instead of a network impacts the stories they can tell and how they tell them.
