10 Underrated TV Shows You Need To Start Watching

2. The Afterparty

The success of Knives Out has shepherded in a new era of murder-mystery stories, and one of the best to come down the pike in recent times is The Afterparty.

A comedic whodunnit yarn created by the great Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), The Afterparty was broadly well received upon release in early 2022, for its enticing mystery, creative episodic storytelling, and killer ensemble cast.

Yet it's also a show which simply failed to stir up much of a conversation, and with Apple again being cagey about viewing figures, it's impossible to know how well the first season performed.

Well enough for a second season at least, which releases this July, but a show this cleverly written and brilliantly acted deserves to be far more of a breakout phenomenon - indeed, on the level of the Knives Out movies. Instead, its subreddit is only sparsely populated.

Apple TV+ is fundamentally still a growing streaming service, which doesn't help any of their shows grab an easy foothold with the mainstream, but if you sleep on The Afterparty you're absolutely missing out.
