The Mystery: When it was announced midway through Season 3 that Lost had a definitive end date many fans took this a sign all mysteries from here on out would have definitive answers. This was evidently not the case. In Season 5s The Little Prince, Sawyer, Juliet and the rest of the time travellers end up in a shootout with an unknown group while using one of the Ajira gangs outriggers. Before time jumping away, Juliet managed to hit one of the pursuers, but despite the promise of a solution (not to mention many teasing appearances of Outriggers through to the series end) the show never gave us an answer. The Simple Solution: It was either Ilanas team/The Black Rock crew. This is one of the harder solutions as Damon Lindelof has gone on record saying he wont give an answer. We were meant to get a proper solution in Season 6, but by that point some the people who were intended to be in the other outrigger had been killed off. This suggests it was Caesar and the rest of Ilanas team, but there was never any time to show it properly. Another, more interesting answer was given in the Complete Series box set; it was some of the surviving crew of The Black Rock who had somehow begun to travel in time too. This is regarded as non-canon, but its a pretty cool resolution.
