10 Upcoming New HBO Series To Be Excited About

10. The Gilded Age

A new period drama to take the place of Downton Abbey could be HBO’s new drama, The Gilded Age.

Much like Downton Abbey, the series will follow a particular period in time, following “The Gilded Age”, starting with the 1880s right through to the 1900s.

It will be created and written by the Oscar and Emmy-winning writer, Julian Fellowes (who also created Downton Abbey), and will have a huge ensemble cast, including Christine Baranski, Carrie Coon, Cynthia Nixon and Taissa Farmiga.

Considering it's to be broadcast on HBO, the series could have a little bit more bite and edge to it that Downton Abbey, which let’s face it, was just a glorified soap opera.

Let’s not be so cynical about this one, as it could end being quite good.
