10. Snowpiercer

Snowpiercer had quite a turbulent time getting itself to screens (which surprisingly didn't have anything to do with the fact that it was basically a remake of what was already a perfect film) as creative differences and network swaps had it languishing in development hell for a very long time. But it overcame that hurdle and will finally steamroll its way to TNT in May of this year.

Starring Jennifer Connolly and Daveed Diggs, the show is certainly reminiscent of its big-screen counterpart in that it's set so many years after another ice age has turned the planet into a frozen shell of what it once was and the last remaining part of the human race is crammed into a giant train that constantly circles the globe. Like its predecessor, it will also hone in on issues of class division and spawn interesting discussions about survival.

While the promotional material of Snowpiercer hasn't allowed it to differentiate itself from its big-screen predecessor all that much, that's understandable given that it's adapting the same concept. But let's not forget how compelling that concept is, and given that it's already been renewed for a second season, expect to see it offer up its own contributions once it gets past the obligatory set-up stage.
