When you think scary, you don't usually think redneck or cowboy; hillbilly, perhaps, considering films like Deliverance and The Hills Have Eyes - but definitely not cowboy. That's more for westerns, and they're usually either heroes or villains, but not monsters. Big boots and belt buckles and cowboy hats don't exactly instill fear into the hearts of mortal men, which is why the Gorch Family - a pair of vampire brothers - flopped as villains on Buffy in the episode Bad Eggs. It was an original concept at least, but in the confines of sunny Sunnydale, California, they just didn't work. Especially when they couldn't hold their own against Buffy or the other creepy denizens in town. Despite this, Lyle and Tector Gorch were brought back for the comic Chaos Bleeds, a Buffy prequel. Lyle also appeared in the episode Homecoming, again proving an ineffective (and cowardly) villain when he fled town.
