Jumping over to Angel, which generally had darker themes and more disturbing villains, comes one that really, really didn't work - the hulked up version of Lorne that was his ID come to life. First off, the late Andy Hallet was incredible as Lorne, the demon with soul and a fantastic singing voice on Angel. Originally called "The Host" he was the owner and operator of a club that served as a sanctuary to all, including demons, in Los Angeles. He also had a side gig reading the auras of his customers, whenever they sang for him - explaining why karaoke was so popular at the club. Lorne was a memorable character, and a fan favourite, which is perhaps why his "emphatic subconscious" failed so badly, especially given he looked like a bad hulk knock-off. Luckily, this was one of the only low points for the character in the series.
